How it works
Three gestures, no settings.
Create a channel, in person
Get together with your phones side by side. One person opens a channel; the others join over Bluetooth with the 6-digit code shown on their screen.
Hold to talk
Just like a walkie-talkie: press, talk, let go. Your message is sent right away, no re-takes.
Listen once
Tap the button to play new messages. Once heard, a message is gone for good.
Built to stay between you
Voco isn't a social network. It's a direct line to the people you actually see.
Met in person
No directory, no search by name or number. You can only join a channel in person, and nobody can be added afterwards.
Heard once
Each message plays a single time, then it's deleted. Nothing to archive, nothing to replay.
24 hours, tops
An unheard message expires after 24 hours and disappears from the server.
End-to-end encrypted
Your voice is encrypted on your phone. The server only carries unreadable data: it can't listen to your messages.
Your names stay with you
Your nickname, your photo and your channel names never leave the members' phones.
A number, just to sign in
It's used to receive a code by text. The server only keeps a fingerprint of it, and nobody can find you with it.
FAQ
Why do we have to be together to create a channel?
It's the best way to be sure you're talking to the right people. The 6-digit code exchanged over Bluetooth protects the pairing: nobody can sneak in remotely.
What does the Voco server see?
Technical identifiers, the phones' public keys and encrypted chunks of audio, deleted once heard or after 24 hours. It doesn't know your nicknames, your channel names or what your messages say.
What happens if I change phones?
Encryption keys stay on the old phone. To get a channel back, simply join it again, in person, with its members.
Can I leave a channel?
Yes, any time, from the channel page. It's final: to come back, you'll need to create a new channel together.
How many people can be in a channel?
As many as you like, as long as everyone is there when the channel is created.
